There are people who were given authority and there are people who wants to have authority to other people.Power and force is always happening within the organization in employers and employees relationship or practically speaking in a relationship however we will focus on power and force within the organization and between employees.I hope that you will get a lesson out of this topic.
Power There are several meaning of power in the dictionary and we will try to get the meaning of power that is related to this blog. 1.The ability to do something 2.The ability or capacity to influence the behavior of others or the course of an event In any organization power is also evident in the day to day interaction of employees within a company.The skills,knowledge,attitude, and ability of a person can be considered as power in this definition but as to the level of each of those determinants power strong or weak.However,if there is a clearly dominant determinant of individual power it becomes his power base. Power is also considered as influence and persuasion because the more a person can influence another employee there is power at play.Managers and supervisors have formal power that is within his line of work but not really a natural power because it is only authority and responsibility based. Power in this sense is positive.The impact of power is positive both to the employee and organization.These powers should only be given to people who have self control,self discipline, and knowledgeable because if these are given to an ignorant person it will only be abused and used in the wrong way that can harm the organization and the employees.I have already observed people who was given authority who doesn't deserve power and when he used that power it becomes a disaster perhaps he was in the initial stage in using his power, anyway there are errors and mistakes when you are using power for the first time. There are people who uses power in a good way and impact the employees in a positive way including the organization.These are the people who are not insecure and mature some of the literature viewed as someone who gained more knowledge because eventually it will become wisdom and both the internal and external being of the individual will grow. If you are new in holding and managing power and you get overwhelmed it is best to look for guidance or perhaps you don't know how to use your power appropriately we can help you become better in using your power. Force Force according to the dictionary as energy of physical action.it can also means coercion or compulsion.Using it for threats and violence and making someone do against his will. Here force is the opposite of power because it affects negatively the organization and other employees.Compelling someone to do it is force which is different from power because power is not compelling someone to do so.I remember a person who was given a small authority but when he applied that authority he was actually using force or compelling others to do what he says in short he is using force rather than power.Forcing people to do something for you is not power but force.Lame things should not be a ground for using force perhaps ignorance is the factor revolving around that person.There are a lot of time I saw someone uses force than power in a given situation that doesn't really require force.Those with big egos are always those people who uses force out of ignorance regardless if they did it intentionally because it is a clear indicator of ignorance.
