Pause for a minute and ask yourself if you had a mentor in your life. Basically, if you had one then you will understand what I'm trying to impart to everyone. If it is just you that navigates inside the organization without any help from senior or older employees then your journey will be a difficult ride but like they said whether its difficult or an easy ride you will still get there. Having a mentor will give you a more clear direction in every path that you take inside the organization that you are working with.
This article is not for the mentees but for mentors so that they will I'm prove there mentor skills, only if you want to because you will never be good enough and that is okay. The reason this articles exists in the internet is for mentors to become better and better as a mentor. How to Become a Good Mentor 1.It is all about relationship Establishing relationships is the first thing that mentors do. I have experienced this with people but the problem is I know what they are trying to do and i am even better than them (humbly speaking).When you want to become a mentor make sure that you are better than the person you want to mentor otherwise you are just wasting your time because it will literally fail. Establishing relationships is difficult because there are barriers that will hinder you to establish relationships but a point to remember and i will repeat you must be better than the person you are mentoring. 2.Always Listen When you are a mentor you should always listen because basically it is not about you it is about your mentee if you are deaf enough then don't be a mentor because you will just fail. There are many advantages when you listen and filter the things that you are listening. Make sure you are prepared and always ready to mentor . 3.Build trust Trust an important factor in a relationship without trust there is no good relationship. Trust is not easy to build just because you are older and a senior employees doesn't mean that your mentee will trust you immediately. The paradigm of trust goes beyond than what you expect. It is a complicated process but once it is established you will reap the rewards of your hard work. 4.Timing is essential You are not always there to give advice because not all dilemmas require an advice. Timing is crucial when you want to give an advise because if it is not timed properly you are opt to destroy your mentor responsibilities. Make sure to analyze first the situation if you are needed or not because if not just get the hell out of there and let your mentee reflect and solve it alone. 5. Don't assume you know everything Even if you are older and a senior employee inside your organization there are things that you do not know and don't be the person who know it all. I have heard this from some people and to me they are like clowns that is making people laugh outside the circus. Just be who you are and what you are because your mentees doesn't want a clown to begin with. These are only a few tips to make your mentorship career even better than before and remember it is not about you because it is about your mentee. Be always open to various ideas nothing in this world will be better because being better is always changing for the better.
